It was a family friend who allegedly ran over Usher's stepson Kyle Glover with a jet ski, leaving him brain dead, authorities say. Jeffrey S. Hubbard is now under investigation for the Friday incident in Georgia, an official tells the New York Daily News, noting that alcohol was not a factor—but neither was a mechanical malfunction. "Basically, a pontoon was pulling two juveniles on an inner tube, and the watercraft ran over the top of them," the official says. "One minute the jet ski was running around, the next he ran over the top of them. It happened that quickly."
The other passenger who was struck, a 15-year-old girl, was submerged when rescued, but Kyle's face was above water the whole time. Both were wearing life jackets; the girl suffered a broken arm and cut on the head, MTV reports. The official says any charges Hubbard might face are still up in the air, adding that "once we gather all our info, we’ll talk to the district attorney and decide what action to take." Meanwhile, Usher has put aside his differences with ex Tameka Foster, Glover's mom, in light of the tragedy, sources tell Us. (More Usher stories.)
