Jesse Jackson Jr.'s office has denied reports that the congressman is being treated for alcoholism, saying he is "receiving intensive medical treatment at a residential treatment facility for a mood disorder." Jackson has been on medical leave since being hospitalized for exhaustion a month ago. His office refused to say where Jackson was being treated, saying such information was protected by federal law.

"I’m hopeful that my husband’s doctors will be able to release something soon,” his wife tells the Chicago Tribune. “I’m in constant talks with them about Jesse’s condition and his medical prognosis going forward.” Jackson's father says rumors his son attempted suicide are untrue. It's not clear when Jackson, who is being probed in connection with the Rod Blagojevich scandal, will return to work. (More Jesse Jackson Jr. stories.)
