Ever sit up wondering about your teenage kid's driving? A Florida dad has designed an app that may allay your fears, the Sun-Sentinel reports. Called howismykiddriving.co, its $15 membership ($10 after the first year) comes with a bumper sticker to put on your teen's car: "How is my KID driving? Push Text my tag #." Drivers who have the app can type in the tag number and any thoughts and send them in anonymously.
But critics say the app encourages drivers to commit the worst of behind-the-wheel offenses: texting while driving. "I applaud this father for doing something about teen driving, but I think it can be dangerous," says state Rep. Irv Slosberg. The app's inventor, Michael McManigal, recognizes the concern and promises to include a warning on future bumper stickers. One Florida mom explains her reason for signing up: "At least I would have a way to know how [my daughter is] doing," she says. "It's that or put a camera in the car." (More apps stories.)
