Iran: Israel Won't Actually Launch 'Stupid' Attack

Israel keeps talking about attacking Iran, but Iran says it's not exactly sweating it, AFP reports. "Even if some officials in the illegitimate regime [Israel] want to carry out such a stupid action, there are those inside (the Israeli government) who won't allow it because they know they would suffer very severe consequences from such an act," says a foreign ministry spokesperson, calling the threats "hollow and baseless."

Those thoughts were echoed by Iran's defense minister, who was quoted by Iranian media calling Israel's threats "a sign of weakness" from "brainless leaders." He added that Israel "definitely doesn't have what it takes to endure Iran's might and will." The remarks come in response to recent ramped-up comments from Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak regarding Iran's nuclear program. "We are determined to prevent Iran from becoming nuclear (armed), and all the options are on the table," Barak said last week. "When we say it, we mean it." (More Israel stories.)
