'China's Most Dangerous Man' Shot Dead

Police in China managed to track down one of the country's most-wanted killers with the help of a huge manhunt in the wrong place. Zhou Kehua, who is believed to have killed at least nine people in a string of robberies going back to 2004, was gunned down in Chongqing after exchanging fire with undercover cops, according to state media. He killed a woman during a robbery on Friday and is believed to have killed a railway policeman the same day.

Zhou—described as "ruthless and highly dangerous" by police—had eluded manhunts before but authorities say they managed to lure him into the open by staging a huge search elsewhere, reports the Wall Street Journal. More than 10,000 police and soldiers were sent to comb a mountainous area outside the city where Zhou was known to hide out, but authorities were aware that the fugitive was still in Chongqing.
