Politics / President Obama White House: If 25K Sign, We'll Release Beer Recipe Jay Carney agrees to make home brew public if petition succeeds By Matt Cantor, Newser Staff Posted Aug 24, 2012 12:18 PM CDT Copied President Barack Obama stops for a beer at The Pump House, a pub and grill, Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, during a three day campaign bus tour through Iowa. (AP Photo/Carolyn Kaster) Voters have demanded more White House beer transparency, and if enough people get on board, they'll get their way. After home brewers requested a much-ballyhooed White House ale recipe, press secretary Jay Carney agreed to release it on one condition: At least 25,000 people must first sign the online petition, USA Today reports. The petition notes that by drinking a homemade brew, President Obama is "following in the footsteps of great men like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin." It continues: "In keeping with the brewing traditions of the founding fathers, home brewers across America call on the Obama Administration to release the recipe for the White House home brew so that it may be enjoyed by all."
