Samsung Issues Single Sentence on Ban

Yesterday, Apple filed papers asking a court to extend a ban on US sales of Samsung's cell version of the Galaxy. Samsung's response, issued today, required only a single sheet. "We will take all necessary measures to ensure the availability of our products in the US market," read the entirety of its press statement. A rep separately outlined the three routes Samsung could take: filing papers of its own in an attempt to stop the permanent injunction, appealing the injunction should it be granted, or tweaking its products.

A source tells the Wall Street Journal that the company has already made moves around the final option, talking to various wireless carriers about eliminating or altering infringing features in order to allow it to sidestep any ban. The eight phones named on Apple's injunction request brought in $1.3 billion in US sales for Samsung during the first two quarters of 2012. (More Samsung stories.)
