Clint Eastwood Cutout Gets Its Own Empty Chair

For the past few months, a life-sized cardboard cutout of Clint Eastwood has been overlooking California's Glendale Freeway—and now it's been joined by an empty chair, the Los Angeles Times reports. The chair, of course, evokes Eastwood's RNC appearance, in which he spoke for 12 minutes with an empty chair that was apparently supposed to be holding an invisible President Obama.

The unconventional speech had already sparked an Internet meme (sample tweet from @InvisibleObama: "I'm behind Mitt! No seriously. I'm right behind him.") and a new verb, "Eastwooding," which involves posing with an empty chair. It also got a mention from Kal Penn, who spoke at the Democratic National Convention last night, the Huffington Post reports. "I've worked on a lot of fun movies, but my favorite job was having a boss who gave the order to take out bin Laden and who's cool with all of us getting gay married," the Harold and Kumar actor said.
