Pundits Pile Up Predictions

And they’re off! Not just the candidates, but also the pundits. Here’s an early roundup of what four, from both sides of the aisle, say:

  • Talking Points Memo founder Josh Marshall says Mitt Romney’s trouncing makes John McCain the GOP nominee. Marshall’s not happy about that—the lefty says McCain makes a pretty good candidate.

  • National Review’s John O’Sullivan agrees Iowa is good news for McCain. The righty not only dislikes him but says Romney would fare better in November and argues that the GOP must “revive the Romney campaign.”
  • New Republic editor Frank Foer, previously unsure whether Barack Obama could take center stage, is impressed that “he stuffed Hillary.” And his "stunningly good” speech means he’s “won the argument over electability.”
  • Center-right Daily Dish blogger Andrew Sullivan, a proud Obama supporter, says his man’s in charge now, and the “only way for Clinton to survive the pro-Obama wave is to become the grinch.”
