This time, Donald Trump's not the one saying, "You're fired." As of this morning, some 465,000 people have signed a petition calling on Macy's to rid itself of Trump as a celebrity spokesman. The petition, at signon.org, slams Trump for "sexist behavior" and denying climate change—not to mention his endorsement of the "racially charged birther conspiracy." "Donald Trump does not reflect the ‘magic of Macy's'," the petition says, via the Hollywood Reporter. "Macy's says it has a strong obligation to be ‘socially responsible’ and that ‘actions speak louder than words.’ Indeed. It's time to act."

The Huffington Post points out that Trump has been doing Macy's ads for years, making a potential firing difficult. Trump recently appeared in a Macy's ad mocking his own conspiracy theories: The spot shows him pulling at Santa Claus' beard to make sure he's the real deal. Trump is "always the one who delivers the one-liners," a Macy's rep tells the New York Times. What's more, HuffPo adds, these kinds of petitions to retailers aren't often successful.
