Chris Christie: Treat Us Like Katrina Victims

New York and New Jersey are looking for federal aid in their ongoing Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, and they're not being modest in their requests. "We expect to be treated in exactly the same way that the victims of Katrina were treated," Chris Christie said—a statement that may raise a couple eyebrows. "They were treated very generously by the American people and I think that's what the American people would want," he continued, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Andrew Cuomo has put in a request for $30 billion in federal aid, saying it would be grouped into a larger regional plan encompassing New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. Michael Bloomberg has put in his own request for $500 million to repair New York City's schools and hospitals, and has warned that damage to the city "may well run into the billions."
