Oops. Oprah Winfrey reiterated her love for the new Microsoft Surface this morning, but did it from a Twitter app—on her iPad, Techcrunch reports. "Gotta say love that SURFACE!" she tweeted. "Have bought 12 already for Christmas gifts." So why not tweet from her beloved Surface? Well, first off, Microsoft has dished out $1.5 billion on promoting Windows 8, so endorsements from the likes of Jessica Alba, Gwen Stefani, and Oprah "need to be taken with a grain of salt," says Techcruch.

But there's another issue: the current state of Twitter apps on Windows RT. Yes, you can use Rowi and MetrotTwit, but Twitter still hasn't yet issued its own Windows Store client. needs a great Twitter app," Twitter tweeted last month. "Looking forward to sharing it with you in the months ahead." But Windows RT and Windows 8 aren't the same, and an app for the latter may not work on a Surface. As for Oprah, she really ought to plug the Surface from Twitter's website for now, says Techcruch—because doing it from the iPad "makes her look like a sell-out." (More Oprah Winfrey stories.)
