Height of All Leg Lamps Amazon Sold: Tall as Everest
Picture these reaching to the top of Everest.   (?)

Holiday spending may have been Scrooge-like, but it's not like we didn't shop at all. In fact, Amazon sold an eye-popping 26.5 million items on Cyber Monday alone, according to a post-Christmas press release that gives us a peek at the company's seasonal sales. The Wall Street Journal picks out some highlights, the quirkiest of which is hands down this one:

  • "If you stacked every Christmas Story Leg Lamp purchased by Amazon customers this holiday season, the height would reach the top of Mt. Everest."

It's not the only big measurement. If stacked, the number of Fifty Shades trilogy books bought would equal the Space Needle in height ... times 445. And not only do sports team garden gnomes actually exist, but enough were sold to fill every one of Madison Square Garden's seats. And Kindle was king: The website's top four bestsellers were the Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Fire, Kindle Paperwhite, and Kindle. The No. 1 Kindle book? No word on whether he predicted it, but the honor went to Nate Silver and his The Signal and the Noise: Why So Many Predictions Failbut Some Don't. Click for more quirky shopping details.
