If you've ever shared your views with your state's Democrats, be aware that those views are now for sale. The Democrats' National Voter File Co-Op has been selling info on supporters to like-minded political groups like the NAACP since Democrat state parties around the country founded it in 2011, but now it's going a step further, Pro Publica reports: The firm managing the fund confirms that it's shopping the info to credit card companies, retailers, and other "corporate prospects."

While some data, like names and addresses, is public knowledge, canvassers have also collected info over the years on how voters feel about various issues. The co-op thinks companies will value getting a better look at who their customers are. "Everything is on the table, nothing's off the table," a co-op board member says. "It's up to us to figure out what [data] there's a market for." But it's not a total free-for-all: State party leaders will be able to opt out of any deal they don't like. (More Democrats stories.)
