At least two bicycle-borne bombs exploded in a crowded marketplace in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad today. Death toll reports vary—24/7 Emirates reports about 22 feared dead, and most sources say at least 50 were injured. The bombs struck within two minutes of each other about 500 feet apart, blowing in front of a movie theater and a bus station respectively, the AP reports. The explosion comes less than two weeks after India hung a Kashmiri man for a 2001 attack on its parliament.

"The devastation is pretty widespread," an al-Jazeera correspondent there says. "This part of the city is a very popular bazaar area, very popular with young people when they are going out in the evening." It's also located in a predominantly Hindu district of the city, which has a mixed Muslim/Hindu population. "This is a dastardly attack, the guilty will not go unpunished," vowed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. (More India stories.)
