A Canadian police officer faces serious disciplinary charges on accusations that he failed to investigate racial threats made at a party. The weird part is that those racial threats were hurled at the officer himself, reports the Toronto Star. Dameian Muirhead, who is black, was one of the officers sent to investigate an ATV accident at an outdoor party. Things got heated as he checked the license plates of uncooperative guests, and one partygoer said, "I would love to see that guy hanging from a tree," recalled Muirhead in his version of the event.

The incident might have ended there, but one of the partygoers filed a complaint against Muirhead and accused him of purposely knocking his jacket and a helmet off his motorcycle. A York police panel looking into the complaint charged Muirhead with neglect of duty and discreditable conduct for not investigating the lynching threat made against him. Hearings take place this week. (More Canada stories.)
