The White House has remained mum on its so-called kill list, but at least one politician is now talking: House Intelligence Committee chair Mike Rogers yesterday revealed that there aren't any Americans on it. "There is no list where Americans are on the list," Rogers told the National Journal, which notes that four Americans have thus far been killed in drone strikes; only Anwar al-Awlaki was killed deliberately.
"Some notion that every American would even rise to the list by just going over and even signing up is, candidly, just not the truth," said Rogers. The National Journal says Rogers' statement backs up previous assertions that the names on the list belong solely to very senior leaders of al-Qaeda or like groups who pose an immediate threat. As such, the four US-born men currently on the FBI's Most-Wanted Terrorist list don't qualify. The White House stayed, you guessed it, mum on Rogers' comments. (More terrorism stories.)
