Japan Deploys Defenses Amid Korea Missile Fears

Japan, fearing a possible North Korean missile launch, has set up missile defense batteries at several sites in Tokyo. The deployment comes amid warnings that Pyongyang may be preparing to launch missiles as soon as Wednesday, the New York Times reports. North Korea has threatened to attack American military bases in Japan and elsewhere, some of which are in the greater Tokyo area.

North Korea has made good on its threat to pull more than 53,000 workers from the Kaesong industrial complex it operates jointly with South Korea, reports Reuters. Workers did not show up at the complex this morning and Pyongyang has said it is considering permanently closing down the manufacturing zone, which lies on its side of the border.
