Eric Williams has not yet been charged in the murder of two Texas prosecutors, but his wife is squarely pinning the blame on him, reports the New York Times. A recently filed affidavit states that Kim Williams on Tuesday told investigators that her husband pulled the trigger, but that she drove the car on both occasions. Eric Williams' lawyers have denied he was the shooter, but the Times reports that what it describes as "his ailing yet supportive wife of 15 years" revealed to authorities details of the murders that had been kept under wraps.

With Eric Williams having made repeated threats against the two prosecutors following his conviction on stealing $1,500 worth of computer equipment, few involved were surprised by his arrest, but Kim Williams' arrest was another matter. "The part about Eric’s wife being involved was a shocker,” says the chief investigator in the district attorney’s office. "But it does feel like closure." Eric Williams will likely be hit with murder charges today; a news conference is scheduled for this afternoon. (More Eric Williams stories.)
