Surveillance footage is providing new information about the Boston marathon bombings, with insiders telling the Los Angeles Times that authorities have spotted two suspects. Word of a man carrying a black backpack emerged yesterday; now, a federal official says "two men with two backpacks" appear in video or other images. The backpacks, as well as the men's behavior and reactions to the explosions, attracted authorities' attention, though they don't yet know who the men are.
Other outlets offer slightly different stories: The Boston Globe focuses on a single suspect who appears in still images, either from surveillance footage or a camera phone. An official says authorities are "very close" to a breakthrough. The New York Times reports that a "handful" of people are wanted for questioning because of their actions or location in the footage. "We’re looking to talk to more than one guy. It’s still very squishy but there are a lot of interesting people," says an official. Meanwhile, President Obama is set to speak to the community at a Boston church this morning. (More Boston stories.)
