OJ Simpson is back in a Las Vegas courtroom today, hoping a judge will grant him a new trial in his armed robbery-kidnapping case. Simpson's new lawyer convinced the judge last year to reopen the case, arguing that Simpson's original lawyer, Yale Galanter, had a personal interest in preventing himself from being identified as a witness to the crimes and thus failed to adequately represent Simpson. Simpson will be in court for five days, during which the judge will hear testimony and then decide whether to grant a new trial.

Simpson says Galanter knew ahead of time that Simpson was planning to retrieve what he thought were his own personal sports mementos that had been stolen from him, and that Galanter actually met with Simpson to talk over the plan the night before Simpson confronted sports memorabilia dealers in a hotel room. Some experts think Simpson has a fair shot at getting a new trial, the AP reports. Click for more on the claims against Galanter. (More OJ Simpson stories.)
