Melissa Joan Hart's Kickstarter campaign had so many problems, you probably cringed when you read about it. But the actress thinks she's zeroed in on the particular reason she attracted only 315 backers: "We didn’t give [fans] the two things it takes to sell a movie: a poster and a trailer. I really think that’s where we missed the boat," she tells the Los Angeles Times. Don't worry, though, you may still get to see the aforementioned trailer; Hart is still looking for an investor to make Darci's Walk of Shame.
Hart also notes that her team didn't "let the fans know exactly what the project was," and that perhaps it would have been a good idea to get a full cast on board before launching the campaign. "We thought we could do it based on 'Hey, here's Melissa. You've liked what she's done, check out what she's going to do next,'" she says. The bottom line? Kickstarter is "more for entrepreneurs. People don't necessarily want to see already successful people becoming more successful," Hart theorizes. "It’s disappointing, but hopefully we won’t always be used as an example of how not to do it." (More Melissa Joan Hart stories.)
