Another train accident is making headlines: A cargo train derailed near an industrial park just outside Baltimore about 2pm, setting off a thunderous explosion, reports the Baltimore Sun. The train reportedly hit a truck, and the vehicle's driver was in serious condition. So far, no other injuries have been reported. No word on what the train might have been carrying, but a county spokesperson says the smoke wasn't toxic. Authorities evacuated a 20-block area as a precaution.

The AP says industrial buildings near the explosion collapsed, though it was unclear whether they were occupied. Hazardous waste teams were on the site. “It was enough to scare the leaving bejesus out of you,” says one employee of a seafood shop near the blast. (More Baltimore stories.)
