Snowden's Dad: 'Come Home and Face This'
A screen grab from Fox News video of Lon Snowden.   (Fox News)

Edward Snowden's dad has a message for his son, via Fox News: It's time to come home. In the meantime, "I hope, I pray and I ask that you will not release any secrets that could constitute treason," Lon Snowden says. Some would like to see the younger Snowden "cross that line and do something that constitutes treason, or they would like to see him disappear," his father says. But as for Lon, "I would like to see Ed come home and face this ... I love my son."

If Edward were to come home, Lon says he's sure "that the moment he landed ... there would be a line of attorneys waiting to defend him." Indeed, Lon had harsh words for the government: "I don't want them reading my email," he said. "If we say, "Oh my gosh, we're going to have to ... sacrifice our freedoms because of the threat of terrorism,' well, the terrorists have already won, because it's our freedoms that make us Americans." He also noted that Edward's reason for leaving high school was an illness that may have been mono; after leaving, he finished his high school equivalency and took college courses. Lon added, to Edward: "I know you're your own man, and you're going to do what you feel that you have to do." (More Edward Snowden stories.)
