Just how much does Edward Snowden know? American officials say that despite revelations in the press, they're not sure how much information about National Security Agency operations he managed to make off with, Reuters reports. Insiders say the number of documents could be in the thousands—and security agencies fear some of them could end up in the hands of Julian Assange and WikiLeaks.

Assange declined to comment on whether he had access to any of Snowden's unpublished material, though he added, "of course WikiLeaks is in the business of publishing documents that are suppressed by governments." Snowden's current whereabouts are unclear, and his allies aren't saying where he is or why he failed to board a flight from Moscow to Havana yesterday, the AP reports. (More Edward Snowden stories.)
