Robert Mugabe has a piece of advice for those skeptical of his latest election victory, including some Westerners: You can go kill yourself. "Those who can't stomach the defeat, you can commit suicide. Even dogs will not sniff their carcasses," he said in his first public speech since the July 31 election. "We will never go back on our victory. We do not know what is retreating," he added, speaking at an event honoring Zimbabwean veterans.

"We are delivering democracy on a platter" to Westerners, he said. "We say take it or leave it." The event was boycotted by officials in Mugabe opponent and PM Morgan Tsvangirai's party. People in attendance carried signs with a variety of messages. Among them, per CNN: "Which Africa Observed Elections in Europe or America?"; "Obama: Zimbabwe will never be a second Chile"; and "Zimbabwe will never be a colony again."
