A decidedly unfunny moment at DC's Funniest Celebrity competition, at least for one journalist: While professional comedian Dan Nainan was onstage as a headliner, Newsweek/Daily Beast correspondent Josh Rogin sent out a few critical tweets. (Sample: "Dan Nainan makes his umpteenth joke about how Asians cant distinguish between letters 'L' and 'R'. Election, erection, we get it.") Apparently that didn't go over well with Nainan, because Rogin says the comedian left the stage ... and punched Rogin in the face, twice. Nainan was arrested, according to US News and World Report.
"Dan Nainan comes over to me and says, ‘Are you Josh Rogin,’ and I said yes and then he punched me in the jaw, then he pushed me, then he walked away and about 10 seconds later he came over and punched me again," Rogin says. "At that point I yelled, ‘What the hell are you doing?’" Bouncers escorted Nainan away before the police were called. Nainan tweeted early this morning: "Had a blast headlining the DC improv!"
