White House Mole Fired for Snarky Twitter Account

Jofi Joseph isn't the first person to lose his job for griping about his workplace on Twitter ... but he's probably the first person to do so while working at the White House. Joseph, the director of nuclear non-proliferation for the National Security Council, was unmasked as the man behind the @NatSecWonk Twitter account, which he used to send out hundreds of anti-administration messages over more than 2 years, Reuters reports. "'Has shitty staff.' #ObamaInThreeWords." he wrote from his now defunct @NatSecWonk handle, per Politico. "Loved, LOVED the @NYTimesDowd column eviscerating the Clintons today. @ChelseaClinton seems to be assuming all of her parents' vices ..." he wrote in another.

Joseph didn't go easy on the GOP, either. "So when will someone do us the favor of getting rid of Sarah Palin and the rest of her white trash family? What utter useless garbage," he tweeted last year, per the Daily Beast's Josh Rogin, who broke the story. (Oh, and Joseph has had something to say about Rogin, too: "Just a hunch, but I have the sense lots of people would like to punch @joshrogin in the face," he tweeted earlier this month.) Before he was fired, Joseph was part of the White House team negotiating with Iran on nuclear weapons, and he tells Politico it has been "a privilege to serve in this Administration" then expresses his "deep regret." Says Joseph, "What started out as an intended parody account of DC culture developed over time into a series of inappropriate and mean-spirited comments." (More Twitter stories.)
