A 14-year-old girl in Orai, northern India, was gang-raped, then set on fire when she warned the perpetrators she'd report the incident, her father says. The girl died in a hospital with burns over 80% of her body, the Times of India reports. The teen and her sister were reportedly on their way to a farm to use the bathroom Tuesday, Fox News notes; three men grabbed the girl, dragged her away, and raped her, her father's official complaint says. They allegedly set her on fire after she said she'd identify them.
The three men, allegedly led by a local youth named Ram Bahadur, told the girl's sister about the attack before fleeing. Locals and family members found the teen and took her to the hospital. Police say they're conducting raids to arrest the alleged perpetrators, whose relatives are being questioned. The father, however, says police initially refused to register his allegation.
