After acknowledging 60 Minutes' "mistake" on CBS This Morning Friday, Lara Logan last night offered a full apology for the show's Benghazi reporting. Referring to the case of former security officer Dylan Davies, she said: "On Thursday night, when we discovered that the account he gave the FBI was different than what he told us, we realized we had been misled, and it was a mistake to include him in our report. For that, we are very sorry." Logan added: "The most important thing to every person at 60 Minutes is the truth, and the truth is: We made a mistake."

But the apology left some unsatisfied, Politico points out, noting that the show still hasn't explained why it didn't thoroughly check its facts on Davies—or obtain the relevant FBI report—before airing the interview. Insiders tell Politico that 60 Minutes often keeps its distance from the rest of CBS News, and that its team failed to check with other CBS investigative reporters on the matter. Many of those reporters have ties to excellent FBI sources, notes one person who spoke to Politico. "Why weren’t they asked, 'What does that FBI report say?'" (More 60 Minutes stories.)
