John McAfee just can't seem to stay out of trouble. After fleeing Belize (where he was wanted as part of a murder investigation) and returning to the US, the antivirus software pioneer has now run into trouble in Portland. His building manager won a "stalking protective order" against McAfee last week, the Oregonian reports. Connor Hyde says that, after he warned McAfee he was late on rent, McAfee accused him of being involved in a "conspiracy" and threatened him, saying, "I hope you have a safe to run to." McAfee ended up getting evicted from the luxury apartment (or leaving of his own free will, depending whose story you believe).
Hyde claimed while seeking the protective order that McAfee has "armed associates" who are part of a motorcycle club. McAfee isn't arguing that—he says he likes to hire "streetwise" bodyguards from biker gangs. But McAfee says he "never threatened anybody, except with threats of lawsuits," and accuses Hyde of giving out keys to his pals so they could party in empty apartments, the AP reports. Either way, the building manager got what he wanted: McAfee moved to Montreal in September and says he won't return to Oregon. He did, however, return to Belize, he says—claiming that he somehow managed to get in and out of the country this month without authorities nabbing him. (More John McAfee stories.)
