Another entry in the Beyonce diva file: In a Friday interview with the Independent that's just now gaining notice in the US, the former gatekeeper of Egypt's pyramids reveals this juicy tidbit: He once abandoned a tour he was giving Beyonce of the pyramids because she was "stupid" and "rude." Zahi Hawass, who is controversial in his own right and lost his post in 2011, explains that the singer "said she would come at 3pm but she came late. I said 'You have to say I'm sorry I'm late'. But she didn't open her mouth."

And then there was a photographer snafu: Both Bey and Hawass brought one, and "when my photographer started to shoot, [hers] said 'No, Stop! I am the one who says yes or no, not you.' I said 'In that case since you almost hit my photographer and you are not polite—out! I am not giving you the privilege of having you on my tour.'" Hawass says he then left. Beyonce's rep tells E! the story is totally bogus, saying, "The last time she was in Egypt was on tour in 2009. Nothing like this happened. Lies and more lies." But E! notes the encounter did get some bad press at the time. (More Beyonce stories.)
