5 Craziest Crimes of the Week

One of the strangest car-hits-bicyclist story ever and mob arrests in a famous heist of long ago make this week's list:

  • Cyclist: Driver Didn't See Me Stuck in Windshield: You've heard of leaving the scene of an accident. But here's a driver accused of bringing the accident scene home with him—in the form of a bicyclist stuck in his windshield. (The cyclist is OK, somehow.)
  • 35 Years Later, FBI Busts 5 in Goodfellas Heist: Aaa-nd scene: The FBI is finally charging mobsters in connection with the notorious Lufthansa heist at New York's JFK Airport in 1978, a crime made even more infamous by the film Goodfellas. Five from the Bonanno crime family, complete with names like "Jimmy the Gent," got arrested yesterday.

  • Girl, 14, Sets, Alarm, Wakes, Stabs Sister 30 Times: A shocking story out of a Chicago suburb: Prosecutors say a 14-year-old girl set her alarm for 7:50am Tuesday, woke up, and stabbed her younger half-sister to death. She told police it was about housework.
  • Cops: HIV+ Man Exposed Partners, Taped It: The case of a 21-year-old Missouri man accused of knowingly exposing people to HIV became infinitely more awful, when police alleged that he'd secretly videotaped himself having sex with as many as 31 other people. Cops don't think his partners knew of either his HIV-positive status or the videotaping.
  • Wanted Man Posts Mugshot, Gets Captured Immediately: Note to those wanted by police: If your goal is not to get caught, it's probably not a good idea to "share" your mugshot on Facebook three minutes after the police department posts it. Just ask this Pennsylvania guy.
