5 Craziest Crimes of the Week
Fish out of water   (?)

This week's unusual crime stories include a singing novelty fish and a Super Bowl viewing that ended very badly:

  • Big Mouth Billy Bass May Have Foiled Burglary: Remember when Big Mouth Billy Bass, a motion-activated, singing bass, was all the rage? It seems the nearly inanimate object is now being lauded as a bit of a hero by authorities in Rochester, Minn., who say the novelty bass thwarted a robbery on Sunday night.
  • Cops: Man Bit Off Brother's Ear at Super Bowl Party: This year's Super Bowl was watched by 111.5 million Americans who didn't bite anybody's ear off—and by Sean Fallon-Nebbia of Rochester, NY. Cops say the 27-year-old bit off part of his 26-year-old brother's ear at the end of the big game.

  • Police Find Stolen 300-Year-Old Stradivarius: The sweet sound of justice? Police have arrested three people in connection with the armed robbery of a 300-year-old Stradivarius violin in Milwaukee, and recovered the instrument, which is valued at a hefty $5 million.
  • Paris Jewel Thief Caught After Kissing Hostage: Ah, l'amour. Police have captured an admitted jewel thief in Paris, and all because "Pierre G" made the last-second mistake of planting a kiss on his hostage.
  • Man Faces Jail Time for Peeing on Alamo: A man who made the mistake of peeing on the Alamo pleaded guilty this week in San Antonio, but this is no frivolous misdeed. He faces up to a year and a half behind bars.
