More US Jews are looking askance at Barack Obama and opting for Hillary Clinton, unsure of Obama's devotion to Israel. The New Republic looks beyond a recent email campaign—which claimed Obama was a Muslim and anti-Semite—to uncover the roots of an estimated 2-1 preference for Hillary and continuing anti-Obama whispers among Jewish leaders.

Despite his pro-Israel stands, Obama lost Jewish support by saying Palestinians have “suffered” and promoting talks with Iran and Syria. Israel hawks also dislike Obama adviser Zbigniew Brezinski and supporter George Soros. One prominent US Zionist summed up Obama with a laugh: "You mean Barack Mohammed Hussein Obama?"
