Netflix apparently figures that five or six days is enough time for people to have consumed the new season of House of Cards, because it's got Kate Mara making the rounds of national shows to talk, delicately, about a certain plot point involving her character. (We won't give it away, but those who haven't watched should probably stop reading anyhow.) "I was paid to lie," she tells Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan on LIVE with Kelly and Michael. Not even her family members knew what was in store. "I just had to be really creative" when answering questions, she said, as per the Huffington Post.
On Letterman, Mara pretty much gave away the plot point with a joke after Letterman himself was hesitant to broach it, notes the Washington Post. "But people know, right?" he asked after her joke. “I mean, people who watched the first episode know," Mara responded. "But there’s a lot of slowpokes out there." When the host said he didn't want to "that guy" to give it away, she said, “I think I just was that guy. So I apologize.” Mara talks in depth about the scene and her role on the show with Entertainment Weekly. (More Kate Mara stories.)
