Get excited, '80s kids: Jem and the Holograms is coming to the big screen. The live-action movie will be set in modern-day LA. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the script focuses on an orphaned teen girl (presumably Jem, aka Jerrica Benton, the main character in the cartoon that ran from 1985 to 1988) who becomes an "online recording sensation" and, with her sisters, goes on a "music-driven scavenger hunt" tied to a message left by her dad. The producers say the movie, which starts production this spring, deals with "themes of being true to who you are in a multitasking, hyperlinked social media age." (More entertainment stories.)
