Twin Carries Her Sister to Finish Line

The best finish to a track meet in a while took place over the weekend in Trenton, Illinois, where one eighth-grader carried her injured twin sister on her back to the finish line. Chloe Gruenke "felt something pull and pop in my thigh" early in their 800-meter race and fell to the track in pain, reports Fox2Now. Sister Claire came over, assessed the situation, and then put Chloe on her back. Pretty much everyone in the stands soon took notice.

The 13-year-old jogged at first, but "I got really tired, so I walked the rest and the crowd was just blaring in my ears," she tells KSDK. "That gave me energy to at least finish it." She didn't carry her sister over the finish line, though. They stopped before it, and Claire set Chloe on her feet. "She wanted me to go first because it was my race," Chloe recalls. "I didn't want to go first. I wanted to finish with her so I pulled her with me and then we finished." (More uplifting news stories.)
