Guy Held in Crazy Spree: I Was High on ... the Holy Spirit
High on stimulants? No, that's just the Holy Spirit in Anthoney Stanley's blood.   (Shutterstock)

After rear-ending a car, failing miserably to steal doughnuts, and getting chased down by a police dog, most of us might call it a day. Anthoney Stanley, 28, would apparently prefer to call it getting right with God. As KOMONews reports, the man from Tacoma, Wash., is facing a raft of charges after police say he rear-ended a stopped car in a turn lane, yelled at the driver, put his truck in reverse, and headed to a gas station. Once inside, Stanley threw two boxes of doughnuts on the counter and hollered that he needed gas.

When the rattled clerk locked the register, police say Stanley jumped the counter and tried to open the register, cursing and throwing things the entire time, reports UPI. Stanley finally took off, and police who tracked him down say he appeared to be high on something. But Stanley replied that "he is filled with the Holy Spirit and said the officer could draw his blood, but all he would find would be God," according to the police report. KOMO notes that despite this reassurance, officers went ahead with a blood test anyway. Stanley could use a little divine intervention; he faces charges including attempted robbery, DUI, hit and run, driving with a suspended license, and failure to use a required ignition interlock device.
