A couple of questionable judgment calls made in the heat of the moment top this week's list:

  • Woman Leads Cops on Bizarre 100mph Chase: It might be the strangest reason yet for a car chase: Police in Oklahoma say they tried to pull over a woman who was going 5mph to 10mph over the limit, but "instead of pulling over, the driver accelerated to speeds approximately 90 to 100 miles per hour." It seems the 34-year-old had a specific destination in mind.
  • Woman Tries to Kill Spider, Ends Up With Arson Charge: Listen up, arachnophobes: You do not fight spiders with fire. Or so goes the cautionary tale of a Kansas woman who has been charged with aggravated arson after she apparently tried to kill a spider using a cigarette lighter and some towels.
  • Texan Discovers $2M Pot Farm on His Land: A Texas rancher noticing suspicious activity on a remote section of his property has discovered that he was housing more than just squatters. After calling the sheriff for help, the two hiked three-quarters of a mile through dense woods to get to an area inaccessible by vehicle, where they found a couple of guys fleeing a campsite—and more.

  • Groom Says Vows, Then Chases Thief: Jared Lightle didn't need his running shoes to chase a thief. After a renewal of vows ceremony with his wife, the Missouri man, clad in his tuxedo and patent leather shoes, found himself running after a man who had allegedly pilfered items from Lightle's own event.
  • DWI Suspect Blames Crash on 3 Animals, Tree: Police surely hear all kinds of excuses from drivers looking to deflect blame after an accident, but a man in College Station, Texas, gets points for originality. He told officers that he swerved to avoid a turtle, a cat, a squirrel, and an overhanging tree. They listened carefully and charged him with DWI.
