Sports | Queen Elizabeth II Queen's Nag Flunks Drug Test Winner of last year's Gold Cup, Estimate, tests positive for morphine By Polly Davis Doig Posted Jul 23, 2014 6:56 AM CDT Copied In this June 20, 2013 file photo, Queen Elizabeth II and her daughter Princess Anne greet the queen's horse Estimate, who won the Gold Cup horse race. (AP Photo/Alastair Grant, file) The latest royal scandal mercifully has nothing to do with Prince Harry, things that should've stayed in Vegas, or other photos you can't un-see: Rather, it's a 5-year-old horse owned by the queen, and she's tested positive for a banned substance, reports the Telegraph. It seems that Estimate, who won last year's Gold Cup at Royal Ascot, had morphine in her system at this year's event, and could be stripped of her second-place finish as a result. "Five horses, under the care of various trainers, were affected," says a statement from someone called "the Queen's Bloodstock and Racing Advisor." "Initial indications are that the positive test resulted from the consumption of a contaminated feed product. Her Majesty has been informed of the situation." Further, the queen's racing trainer is said to be "working closely with the feed company involved to discover how the product may have become contaminated prior to delivery to his stables."
