It took 10 rounds, but the Atlanta Thrashers were finally able to beat the New Jersey Devils 4-3 last night, reports the Associated Press. Pascal Dupuis snuck the winner past Martin Brodeur, who had 29 saves before the shootout.  The Devils appeared on their way to a 3-2 win, but Marian Hossa scored with 18.1 seconds left to force overtime.

Both teams scored in the first and fourth rounds of the shootout, but no one else found the net until Dupuis. The Devils built an earlier 2-0 lead on goals from Zach Parise and Brian Gionta, but Ilya Kovalchuk and Todd White scored for Atlanta in the second period to tie it. The Devils are tied with Pittsburgh atop the Atlantic Division. (More NHL stories.)
