New Jersey moved to the top of the Atlantic Division, and now threatens to soon assume the Eastern Conference crown, after holding on for a 3-2 victory over Ottawa. The suddenly struggling Senators now retain a slim two-point lead over the Devils and the Canadiens, the National Post reports. Elsewhere in the world of hockey:

  • Boston dropped its third of the last four games when it couldn't turn frequent shooting into enough scoring to stave off a 4-3 Toronto win in overtime.
  • "It's not over till it's over," said Tampa Bay's Dan Boyle, but the Lightning will have a tough playoff chase ahead of them after a 3-2 loss to Washington.
