It's the ultimate mystery—what is underneath a Scot's kilt? Turns out the answer might be a purloined toy helicopter. That's what Daniel Ducret, 37, of Portland is accused of putting in his kilt, among other small items from a Fry's Electronics, reports the Oregonian. Store staff claim they saw Ducret hide electronics in the kilt's front pouch—the kilt was allegedly modified for easier shoplifting, police say—and returned the next day to do the same; they also found an audio car charger and computer mouse on Ducret, reports KOIN. Staff called police, Ducret was arrested, and now faces a theft charge.
"It gives kilts a bad name," the owner of a kilt store tells KOIN. Police say Ducret's special kilt just wasn't very subtle, with one sheriff's deputy pointing out that "I don’t think there’s a graceful way to stick stuff inside a kilt." (More weird crimes stories.)
