Chicago used a hard-working, grinding style, and it paid off with a 2-1 victory over Colorado, the Blackhawks' third straight win and fifth straight earning at least a point. Defenseman James Wisniewski, the game's first star, assisted on goals by Martin Havlat and Dustin Byfuglien. Patrick Lalime had 21 saves while spelling regular starter Nikolai Khabibulin, who's injured, reports AP.

Colorado failed to convert on each of its six power plays, including a 5-on-3 chance in the second period. "Today was not good," Colorado coach Joel Quenneville said. "I didn't like how we played." Though the Blackhawks remain eight points out of a playoff spot, their coach, Denis Savard, liked his team's effort saying "hopefully we'll continue to play that way." (More NHL stories.)
