Actress Killed by Falling Tree While Bicycling

The Chicago theater community is mourning two stars who died within hours of each other over the weekend. Beloved theater actress and Chicago Fire cast member Molly Glynn died in the hospital on Saturday, the day after she was hit by a falling tree during a sudden thunderstorm, reports the Chicago Tribune. The change in the weather was "harsh and quick," says the 46-year-old's husband, fellow actor Joe Foust. He was with Glynn, bicycling on her favorite trail through a forest preserve north of the city, when the storm hit. "I couldn't save her. I couldn't save her. She's gone," he wrote on Facebook.

Glynn was "a beautiful woman and one would think that she would only be a leading lady, but the truth is she also had great skill and breadth and scope as an actress," the director of Chicago's Northlight Theatre tells the Tribune. The day she died, veteran local actor Bernie Yvon was killed when his car was crushed in a collision in northwest Indiana. The 50-year-old "was a triple threat, an immensely talented singer, dancer, and actor, who solidly delivered in any production that I ever cast him in through the years," the director of Munster's Theater at the Center tells ABC7.
