Jonathan Cheechoo helped the San Jose Sharks snap a five-game losing streak with his 17th goal in a 3-1 win last night over the Philadelphia Flyers, reports the Associated Press. The Flyers tied it in the second period, but Douglas Murray and Milan Michalek scored in the third for the Sharks. In other NHL action:

  • Rick DiPietro stopped 32 shots and Miroslav Satan scored in the third period as the New York Islanders beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 1-0 for their sixth straight win.
  • Scott Walker had a goal and two assists as the Carolina Hurricanes stayed unbeaten in their last six homes games with a 5-3 win over the Atlanta Thrashers.
