While she was in Ohio last weekend, Amber Vinson visited the Coming Attractions Wedding and Formal Shop with friends so they could try on bridesmaids' dresses for Vinson's upcoming wedding. When news broke that the nurse had become an Ebola patient, it didn't take long for the media to descend on the Akron shop. Owner Anna Younkers didn't open for business today as a precautionary measure and plans to keep the store closed through Tuesday, reports the Akron Beacon Journal. Health authorities are trying to assess everyone, customers and employees alike, who were in the store Saturday afternoon with Vinson.
"We just don't need to cause a panic," says Younkers, who adds that Vinson was not visibly sick during the visit. A crowdfunding page already has sprung up to raise money for the store, which it calls an "Ebola hype victim." Elsewhere, several schools closed throughout Ohio and Texas today because adults or pupils were on the same flight as Vinson, or at least on the same plane after her, reports USA Today. The gist from health authorities interviewed is that school officials overreacted. (More Ebola stories.)
