Mayor's 'Good Wife' Tweet Targets Hollywood

Evanston, Illinois—politically conservative? Not according to Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl, who hit Hollywood with a tweet in defense of the city's progressive voting record, the Chicago Tribune reports. It started when an episode of the CBS drama The Good Wife had robocalls going out to Evanston residents portraying a character as pro-gay rights, an attempt to drive voters to her opponent, character Alicia Florrick. Yet Evanston often elects liberal candidates and is even affectionately dubbed "the People's Republic of Evanston" by Democrats. So Tisdahl, a relative Twitter newcomer, let one rip: "Evanston Is not the conservative place ref. in Sunday episode. We welcome all, even uninformed TV writers. #TheGoodWife." Now it's been retweeted as far as Brazil: "I've gone global," muses the mayor. (More CBS stories.)
