Josiah Duncan isn't just any 5-year-old. When he saw a homeless man standing outside a Waffle House in Prattville, Ala., he started quizzing his mom. "Where is his house? Where is his family? Where does he keep his groceries?" were some of Josiah's queries, Ava Faulk tells WSFA in an email. But when Josiah discovered the man probably didn't have any food, he did what Faulk tells the station "will be forever one of the greatest accomplishments as a parent I'll ever get to witness": He asked his mom to buy the man a meal. The three went inside, where Faulk says the homeless man was basically ignored—until "[Josiah] jumped up and asked him if he needed a menu because you can't order without one," Faulk explains.

The man ordered a burger with the works, at Faulk's insistence, but before he started chowing down, Josiah sang a blessing to him and the 11 other patrons who were watching. A commenter on WSFA's Facebook page who says she works at Josiah's day care noted that "we do that prayer every day before every meal." It was a meal that nobody in the Waffle House will likely forget soon. "The man cried. I cried. Everybody cried," Faulk tells WSFA. "You never know who the angel on Earth is, and when the opportunity comes you should never walk away from it." (For once, Waffle House isn't the scene of a crime or other wacky tomfoolery.)
